President's Day 2009

Hi, everyone.  Here are some promised pictures.   Notice my movie star hair!  Becky and Carley Newman came to visit us and we had soooooo much fun.  Becky and I didn't ski, I'm still not physically up to it.  But we dressed up like we were skiers and had lunch at Hazie's.  I am really doing so well.  My mom and dad are here and we are having fun, playing dominos and laughing.  I can truly see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I still need prayers, thank you Mary for the post!  Love to you all and thank you, God for protecting me in so many ways!

Hi everyone! This is Julie's friend, Mary Hauk, writing to you on Julie's behalf. Firstly, she would like to apologize for not updating the blog lately and regrets if it has caused anyone worry. She continues to feel better both emotionally and physically every day. It is so good to hear her laugh again. Tomorrow (2/18) is a very big day for her. She will have blood tests done that will determine whether or not she will be able to get her last treatment on Thursday. Please remember her in your prayers as she faces this last round of tests and treatment. If her tests are good she will get her last round of chemo and finally be on the road to a full recovery. She appreciates and loves every single one of you who have offered your love. prayers, and support. Pray for peace and comfort for her whatever the outcome may be.

Hello!

Today we are just taking it easy.  Mary left yesterday and it was very sad to see her go. We had so much fun together.  I haven't laughed that much in a long long time!  She totally spoiled all of us.  Thank you to Mary and John and all the others who helped take care of her family for a whole week so she could take care of me!  We actually bought snow shoes, but much to Mary's disappointment, I was never up to it.  I love you, Mary, and I can't thank you enough.

Harrison raced at winter sports club and actually got a ribbon!  The kids and I went and saw a movie after Mary left.

Scotty gets in today.  He had a busy work week flying all over the country.  Tomorrow is my second to last treatment.  I am nervous, so please pray for me.  But I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Maddie is now a red head.  She did it for a play she is in this March.  She has about 50 lines!
This is Harrison and Boscoe.  Boscoe is a dog at a shoe shop downtown.  Harrison loves Boscoe and the shop owner, Debbie. (They love him, too!)

Hi from Mary

Hi ...It is another beautiful day in Steamboat.  It has been so great to see Julie and the kids.  It is amazing to think that a year ago this month we were all having a girl's ski trip (seemingly)without a care in the world.  I know Julie will be back on the slopes and she is already showing signs of wanting to get out and do physical things....hmmmmm!  Do I just bring that out in her??  But, as we all know in recovery sometimes the mind is willing and the flesh takes a little while to warm up.  It is a good sign that she is planning things  (she already has a few summer outfits lined up--thank goodness for online shopping) Note to Scotty...probably shouldn't have gotten her a faster newer laptop!!)

Julie is getting some of the best care here and she is surrounded by good friends and medical personnel.  Of course, there are challenges that she and her family have had, but I think  this year has taught everyone a lot.  I am here until Saturday and Scotty comes on Sunday.  Monday is her second to last treatment and then mark your calendars for February 16 for her very last treatment!

Thanks so much to my husband John and my in laws for taking such good care of my family while I am away....love and miss you!

Happy Day!

What a beautiful day today. I feel really good .Mary is here taking care of me! This morning Harrison skied at Howellson Hill.  His coach told me he is doing great.  He said that Harrison likes to go last  in case anyone needs help, Harrison can stop and help them.  Mary and I got to see him ski some moguls.  He is amazing!!  The three of us had lunch at Boathouse Pub.  It was delicious.  Maddie and Amy were skiing at Mt. Werner.  Maddie told me she caught some "major air" on a jump!  Tonight we are going on a sleigh ride up on the mountain.  I will post pictures tomorrow.  Take care.  Love and miss you all!  Love, Julie

Hello, 

I had two really great days in a row (Sunday and Monday) and today I felt very tired.  I just rested all day and I'm sure tomorrow will be better.  Scotty took some pretty pictures that I thought I'd share.

Hi, Friends and Family!

I woke up feeling really well this morning!!!  We went to my favorite place on the mountain, Hazie's.  It was snowing and so beautiful!!!!!  We had a fun ride on the gondola and then had a delicious lunch with a gorgeous view.  Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support.  I really appreciate good days like this.  We miss all of you!
