Maddie's nails matched her costume.

My sweet nail girl Christy painted Maddie's nails and they exactly matched her costume.  So cute!

Halloween in Steamboat

The kids had a great time trick or treating downtown.  Fuzziwigs was handing out big boxes of candy!  Maddie was a Gothic Vampire.  Today she lost her tooth that her fang went on so she just had one fang.  Harrison of course was Indy.
Happy Halloween.  My treatment went well today.  8 treatments down!

Indy goes to school

Harrison was off to school as Indian Jones this morning.  They are having a haunted house at school.  He was so excited.  Maddie actually spent the night with a friend so they could do their makeup together this morning.  They are going as "dead soccer players."  Tonight she will be a vampire.
My chemo is today at 9:00am.  Please pray for me.

Harrison's House of Cards

Harrison worked really hard making this card castle.  I told him I would show everyone.  Enjoy!!

Mom is newest member of PTC!!

Mom and I had pedicures today.  She is an official member of the PTC!  I took Maddie to her viola lesson and then we went to the bookstore.  We're having really warm beautiful weather.  Highs are in the 60's and lots of sunshine.  My treatment is on Friday this week.  My bible study is tomorrow after we watch Harrison in his play "The Election Connection."  We can't wait to see him.  I'll put pictures up tomorrow.

A Beautiful Day in Steamboat!

I've had a rough couple of days (Sunday and Monday) but today I felt much better.  Mom and Dad and I had a delicious lunch at Freshie's.  Then Mom and I ran a few errands downtown and ended up at the bookstore.    Amy dropped Maddie off after school and we stayed there and read by the fire for a while.  Harrison had his cello lesson today.  Keep praying for me.
Love to all,
Julie

7 treatments down!

I went for my 7th treatment today.   My mom went with me.  It was quick and smooth and we were home by 12:30.  I slept most of the afternoon.  I just wanted to show everyone my new blonde hair and the adorable hat that my sweet friend Karen Burnett sent me.  Thank you Karen!  We made milky way cookies for the nurses last night.  They loved them but Mom said she still heard much mention of the symphony brownies.  So next week we'll go back to that!  Pray that tomorrow I have a good day.
Love to all,
Julie

Hi Friends and Family !

Cabo, Thanksgiving 2007  What a wonderful trip!!!
This was happier times earlier this summer.   More Cabo

Lunch at Cacheral yesterday
This was on our 13th anniversary last year in Cabo.

I made a quick trip to Dallas to get my "new" hair.    I am a platinum blonde!!!  This could be really fun.  I did get to have lunch at Cacheral with some friends.  It was very good for me.  We laughed and caught up.  I am so blessed to have so many loyal friends. Thank you Pam, Becky, Karen, Nancy, Toni and Mary.  I am back in Steamboat now.  My parents are here.   What a relief.  I have chemo tomorrow so please pray for me.  I put some pictures up of our Thanksgiving trip to Cabo last year.  They just make me happy.  Love to all!  Julie
P.S.  I was too tired tonight to take a picture of my new "do" but I will on Saturday, I promise!!

Mary is leaving today

Mary and Harrison went to the bookstore for storytime yesterday.

We are so sad that Mary is leaving today.  She has been such a big help!!!  We have had so much fun together and she kept everything running so smoothly.  She took care of every detail, did all of the laundry, cooked every night, and lovingly took care of me. I truly didn't have to worry about any of the "details" that can just bog me down right now.   I am so grateful to have such a wonderful mother-in-law who travelled all the way to Colorado to help us in our time of need.  We will really miss her.  Harrison has said, "I love you, Grandma," about a million times.  He slept with her every night and they watched a lot of Andy Griffith together.  We love you, Grandma, and I can never say enough thank you's for taking such great care of us.

I am tired today

I can feel myself getting tired and I'm about to go retreat to some praying, movie watching and napping .  But I had to share this verse that God gave me this morning. On my "tired day"  I always feel so guilty that I am doing nothing and just laying there.  In my devotional this morning the title was "Taking Time to Replenish."    It said, "Jesus was extremely busy.  Yet he knew the limitations of his human body and soul. He realized he needed to separate himself from the day to day demands."  The verse for today was:  "But Jesus often often withdrew to lonely places and prayed."  Luke 5:16  God just continually and SPECIFICALLY comforts me!!!

The kids have a busy fun day planned today.  Grandma just took Harrison to the bookstore for storytime and cupcakes.  Shannon is taking them both ice skating.  Then Grandma and Maddie are going to the bead store to make some jewelry.  Then Shannon is taking them to their friend Tamy's violin recital.  Maddie is making her famous monkey bread to give to Tamy.

I always feel better when I know the kids are having fun.  Love to you all!  Love, Julie

Thank you, friends!

I just got my mail and I must have received 10 cards today.  I cannot tell you how they uplift me, truly.  Words are so powerful and they are absolutely carrying me through this tough time.  Oh, my goodness,  ALKA AHUJA sent me about  10 gorgeous hats yesterday.  I was overwhelmed!!!!  They are so me!!!!  Thank you so much, Alka.  Obviously I am extremely behind  on my thank you notes.  That was soooo sweet.

Kim Pfohl, thank you so much for the wonderful letter.  It meant so much to me.   Would you please send me your e-mail address?

Thank you again to all of my faithful friends.  I really couldn't do this without you!

Love, Julie

We had fun yesterday!

Yesterday I woke up feeling a lot better.  I got all caught up on my new bible study so I will be ready for Thursday.  Then Mary and I went downtown and walked around.  It was a gorgeous sunny day and the temperature was around  45.  But I didn't even need a jacket in the sun.  (It was 22 when I took the kids to school.)  We had lunch at Winona's.  It was delicious!!  After school Harrison and I spent some time together at the book store.  He is having fun filling in DIARY OF A WIMPY KID:  DO IT YOURSELF.  He has a great imagination.  Next he got a haircut with   a hot towel treatment, of course.  While we were gone, Mary and Maddie made "monkey bread" for the nurses.  She even decorated the cutest monkey cake plate with a monkey wearing a nurse hat.  She is going with us for the treatment today.  She has been wanting to for a while and Scotty said it would be ok.  The treatment is at 11:00 today.  Please pray for me.
Oh, this morning before breakfast, we saw a beautiful golden fox  running right in front of our house!!!!
Love, Julie
